On May 3, United Housing Connections took part in Hands on Greenville (HOG), a community-wide volunteer initiative sponsored by the United Way of Greenville County. With the help of a great group of 20 volunteers from Jacobs Engineering we launched the UHC Restore A Home plan. The Jabobs crew made great strides in yard clean-up, trash removal, shrub pruning and demo of the back stair. We also made some progress with the interior demo, including the full bath, flooring, kitchen appliances, electrical fixtures, misc. doors and debris. Our volunteers worked HARD all morning, then attended the HOG Appreciation Lunch at Fluor Field. A Great Day – Great Progress! Thank you, thank you, Jacobs Engineering!
The HOG day was the kick-off event for the renovation of our first ever Restore A Home project. The hope is that from completely donated materials, labor and services we can renovate this house in time to relocate someone from Tent City before fall. More on this project soon.
Thanks again to all of our volunteers!
